Let’s approach writing as beginners—regardless of experience (none needed)—and define poetry very loosely, with the simple intent to record and make meaning from our everyday lives.

Dreams are another part of our lives, and another source of material, with compelling images, emotions, and plots.

We’ll write rough drafts in a supportive setting and discuss ways to strengthen our writing. Please bring your pen, pencil, and paper.

Paul Hellman's columns have appeared in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Washington Post. Author of You’ve Got 8 Seconds: Communication Secrets for a Distracted World, and Naked at Work: How to Stay Sane When Your Job Drives You Crazy.
