 rk on the main floor of the library!Weaving is one of the oldest crafts in
  human history – a language, a universal communication system, a process
  concerned with the shared, larger whole. For thousands of years, people g
 athered in one another's courtyards and houses to spin, sew, weave, a
 nd have fellowship. The ancient art was imbued with magic, and its vocabul
 ary still lives in how we speak about the deep, intricate nature of life i
 tself.Now we bring weaving into our current moment – and weave with what
  is most abundantly, troublingly available to us: single-use plastic. Ubiq
 uitous and largely unrecyclable, it is the material of our time whether we
  choose it or not.During Earth Month and beyond, join Natalya on the steps
  of Katonah Library to make a collective statement. Bring the soft single-
 use plastics from your home or workplace. Together we'll cut them int
 o strips and weave them into a large, colorful community banner – making
  visible just how much of this material surrounds us, and weaving a shared
  vision of a better future.
